It has been a manic spell in the Whitehead household.
Firstly, a 14-week lay-off because of my neck injury finally came to an end when I made the bench against Leicester Tigers.
It was a great feeling to get back out on the pitch and, just to be in the match-day squad in the build- up to the game was a huge boost after feeling like a bit of a spare part during much of rehab.
It was a serious injury having an operation on my neck but I really feel that I am much stronger in that area of my body now having spent so long working back to fitness.
There are still a few games left of the season and I want to finish strong and repay some of the faith that Rob Baxter has shown in me by offering me the new contract I signed during my lay-off.
I love it down here and never wanted to go anywhere else so I was chuffed to get it sorted. It’s a lovely way of life in Exeter and the club has big ambitions to cement itself in the Premiership and in the region so it’s an exciting time to be here.
We have finally moved into the new house that has given me so much grief over the last 12 months and we have been in it for six weeks or so now.
When you have put so much effort into getting there, it’s nice to enjoy the trappings.
My wedding is now under three months away and then there’s a honeymoon to plan as well.
I suppose a wedding, a honeymoon, a new house and a new contract all in one go makes it quite a big year.
On the pitch, our win at Harlequins the other week and at Worcester last Saturday was an absolutely massive result and has kept our hopes alive of regaining our place in next season’s Heineken Cup.
It’s going to be a fascinating last few weeks of the season.
As the season runs to an end keep an eye on the Voltage Ranking.
