There were times during Sunday's LV= Final against Northampton when I felt like getting back up off the floor was beyond me.
It was a typical Leicester versus Northampton ding dong and they are always incredible tests of fitness and physical endurance.
We built up a good 26-9 lead but spent much of the last 20 minutes defending as the Saints gave it one last go at getting back in the game.
I was hanging. It was hard on the lungs and was just a case of outright defence. They had some big boys and they kept coming at us.
But we stood firm and the spirit we have built in the squad meant that you just simply did not want to let your team mates down by missing a tackle or not getting up off the floor to rejoin the action.
The LV triumph was a reflection on just how strong the squad is here at Leicester.
Noboby thought we would win at Harlequins in the group stages and Bath in the semi-final but we did just that and crucially, on the back of some big performances from players who have been on the fringes of the team for other parts of the season.
I'm told we have used 48 players in the Anglo-Welsh this season and the whole squad has played a part in a success that is probably unique to the LV= Cup.
Everyone has contributed and it was a real squad victory, that is great for everyone at the club.
Despite being at Wasps while we won a fair few trophies in the past, I'd not had the best luck with injuries as those key stages of those season so it was really nice to play in a final and win one. I will remember this day for a long while.
Since I have been at Leicester, I've known that it is always sweet to win the East Midlands derby. But we meet them again in the Aviva Premiership in a few weeks' time where we will have to do it all again.
They will be hurting and will have designs on getting back at us.
For now, our squad is beaming and we are a real tight unit. What a way to build for the league run in.
