Our new Samoan prop at Tigers, Logoviii Mulipola is a scary prospect.
He has made a massive impact during his first couple of games for us while Martin Castrogiovanni and Dan Cole were away at the Six Nations.
At Saracens, he was all over the place with ball in hand, made some big tackles and, crucially, more than held his own in the scrum against World Cup winner John Smit.
He was good again against Newcastle the following week and, put in another good hard slog in the mud in our win over Gloucester last weekend.
There is a fair bit of competition at Leicester for that No.3 shirt. Castro and Coley are both world class, Julian White still knows a thing or two about the scrum and it has largely been forgotten that we also have Kieran Brookes here as well because he has been injured pretty much all season.
Hand on heart, Logo can be up there with the best of them. He is that good a prospect.
Anybody can come in to a side and have a blinder. But the Premiership is a tough old league and he has proven over the last few weeks that he has a level of consistency which you need to be successful in English rugby.
If he has a pre-season with the club and stays fit, I genuinely believe he can be a threat to Coley and Castro.
He is a smart bloke too and has picked stuff up really quickly. When Ed Slater got sin-binned at Sarries, I had to come with basically a whole new line-out in a hurry and he picked up the calls really well. You wouldn’t notice there had been any changes with the way he operated.
He will learn a thing or two about being a Tiger during the remainder of this season and be a better player at the start of next.
Keep your eye on him – he’s not hard to recognise!
