Leicester Tigers Look To Extend Form Run At Saints

After a season in which we have struggled at times, we go to Northampton in the Aviva Premiership this weekend with a good deal of confidence.

While the 45-15 win over Exeter last week was part of that boost, we were also aware that the Chiefs were fresh from winning the LV= Cup and it may have been a good time to play them.

But what that result did show was another example of the gradual improvement we have been making over the last five games.

We feel there is a real momentum in the camp as we approach the business end of the season. We have been here before and we know what to expect.

In fact, last season, we played Exeter and Northampton going into a Heineken Cup quarter-final and that proved an excellent grounding for what we felt was a really good go in Toulon.

We are upping our game each week and with Manu Tuilagi and Niki Goneva looking a handful and guys like Owen Williams and Ben Youngs forming a dangerous partnership, we will continue to build in what is, for the first time this season, a fairly settled side.

There are some pretty tasty head-to-heads in the two line-ups with the likes of Manu going up against Luther Burrell and Tom Youngs facing Dylan Hartley. It’s no surprise who I think will win those battles.

Franklin’s Gardens will hopefully be full and create one of those special atmospheres that we love to play in as professionals.

There are always plenty of Leicester fans in the crowd too and we all remember them singing when we beat the Saints 36-8 almost a year to the day.

The good thing about winning somewhere for the last couple of years is that it loses that fear factor.

Whatever Saints throw at us, we have to concentrate on our own game and make sure we are at our best. If we produce that, we believe we can win.
